Senior Ryder Cup Winter Update

Senior Ryder Cup Winter Update

For those enduring the frigid temperatures it should be warming to know that it is less than 68 days to the Monday practice round at this year’s edition of the Masters. The upcoming Toronto Golf Show, on February 8, 9 & 10, is another reminder that the 2019 Senior Ryder Cup season is not far off.

You were previously notified of the expansion of the SRC to 120 clubs for 2019. We welcome players from the Lionhead Golf Club and the Simoro Golf Links, to the competition, to round out the 120 clubs that will participate this year.
Given significant demand from non-participating golf clubs, the SRC Board is considering the way forward to an acceleration of additional growth of the Senior Ryder Cup.

The 2018 GAO Senior Order of Merit list has been published and we congratulate the following Senior Ryder Cup members who maintain four of the top seven GAO rankings, led by the number one ranked GAO Senior male golfer, and the 2018 GAO Senior Champion, Mark Brewer (Whitevale Golf Club). Ranked second is Lars Melander (Oakville Golf Club). Ranked fifth is Robert Gibson (Cedar Brae Golf Club) and ranked seventh is Michael Mealia (Bavyiew Golf Club). Congratulations, gentlemen!

We thank our SRC sponsors for their continued commitment to the Senior Ryder Cup for 2019 – Callaway Golf, Jackson Triggs Wines, Lexus of London and Visit Tucson. Members are encouraged to consider supporting these sponsors especially Visit Tucson where temperatures are currently in the low 20’s with outstanding golf courses and other attractions to enjoy away from our frigid temperatures.

Please take a minute to connect with our Senior Ryder Cup website (www.seniorrydercup.com) to view updates that have been made to provide you with more information. Details of your division matches, and dates, are currently being added to the website by Team Captains. The website includes dates for 2019 Senior Invitationals, SRC playoff and Championship dates, GAO and Golf Canada Senior Championship dates. The home page features a pictorial of Devil’s Pulpit, home of the 2019 SRC Championship. There is also a link to Lorne Rubenstein’s ‘Pursuit of a Dream’ the history of Devil’s Pulpit.

To the Team Captains, please ensure that your Division Host dates have been entered on the website by February 28th, including your rainout date (insert rain date in ‘event notes’ section) that is to be scheduled no later than July 31st. Thank you.
