Following twelve years of distinguished service to the SRC, Wally Berseth has retired as President, effective December 31st, 2018.
Wally’s SRC commitment includes 3 years as the Dundas Valley Golf Club’s playing Captain, 3 years as the Riverbend Golf Club’s playing Captain, one year as Chairman of the Expansion Committee, 3 years as Vice-President and 2 years as President.
Under Wally’s direction the progress and growth of the SRC has been phenomenal. He has worked diligently to develop a dedicated and talented group of Directors who are committed to the consistent and ongoing delivery of the SRC Mission Statement.
“Provide and maintain an energetic and competitive Match Play format for senior male golfers and promote camaraderie and professionalism in senior golf activities in Ontario and surrounding areas.”
Wally has agreed to remain a voting Director in his new role of Past President, through to September 30th, 2020. He will be present at our SRC Playoff and Championship events, so if you attend any of these activities, and you have the opportunity, please take a minute to say hello and shake his hand!
Executive Committee transition, effective January 1, 2019
President, Gene Gordon (Highland Country Club, London). The past two years Gene served as SRC Vice-President, following three years as SRC Treasurer. He was playing Captain of the London-Highland SRC team for 3 years and played with the team several years thereafter.
Vice-President,Tom Nederpel, PEng (Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club). Tom has served as SRC Secretary for the past 6 years. In Tom’s new role he will Chair the Playoff & Championship Committee as well as the Long-Range Planning Committee. Tom has played for the DVGCC SRC team since he turned of age.
Treasurer, Wayne Bishop (Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club). Wayne has served in his current role for the past two years and is a CPA and CA. He has been playing Captain of the DVGCC SRC team and he remains an active player on the team.
Secretary, Jim Aziz (Oakville Golf Club). In addition to his new role as Secretary, Jim will continue as Chair of our Communications and Sponsorship Committees. Jim has served as a Director for the past two years. He is also the playing Captain on his OGC SRC team.
