Newsletter Issue # 2

Hopefully, the days of the harsh winter are behind us as we look forward to the upcoming Senior Ryder Cup season. To those of you who have wintered in warmer climes we trust you have had decent weather.

Here is an update of activities since our last newsletter.

Expansion

The SRC Directors have approved the addition of five additional golf clubs for the 2018 season. The clubs are Oakdale Golf and Country Club (Toronto), Hidden Lake Golf Club (Burlington), Spring Lakes Golf Club (Stouffville), Vespra Hills Gold Club (Barrie) and Batteaux Creek Golf Club (Nottawa).

Welcome aboard!

With the addition of these golf clubs the total number of golf clubs that will be participating in the 2018 season is one hundred and twelve (112) - significant growth from the original four clubs in 1999. You can view the names and locations of all SRC member golf clubs on the SRC website - www.seniorrydercup.com.

The SRC is Canada's largest team golf competition.

New Sponsorship

We are delighted to announce that 'Visit Tucson' has signed on as a new sponsor.

Please take a few minutes to check the home page of the Senior Ryder Cup 'www.seniorrydercup.com' and click on the Visit Tucson link to view their comprehensive golf focused website.

There is still time, this winter, to book a golf vacation and for those who have not been to Tucson, not only do they offer over 40 great golf courses to play, there are many other activities to consider as part of your trip. Shopping, Old Tucson, and the retired aircraft 'bone yard' are just some of the many attractions you will enjoy in Tucson along with great weather.

We thank Visit Tucson for their confidence in, and support of, the Senior Ryder Cup.

Continuing sponsors

We are also pleased that three current sponsors will be continuing their support of the SRC in 2018. They are Callaway Golf, Lexus of London and Jackson Triggs Wines.

We thank each of them for their continuing support of the Senior Ryder Cup. There will more information from these sponsors, in the coming months.

You will note on the right side of the home page of the SRC website a listing of each of these sponsors. A click on a sponsor name will take you directly to their websites where you can learn more about each of them.

Potential sponsors

If you know of a potential sponsor from the financial services/wealth management sector and one from the accountancy sector please send details to Jim Aziz (bajagrp@rogers.com) and he will follow up.

Website changes

In order to provide members with an informed experience on the SRC website (www.seniorrydercup.com) changes continue to meet that goal. Recent changes include:

•  under 'Events' tab a dropdown menu takes you to previous year's results;
•  under 'Events' tab both playoff and championship areas now show previous year's results;
•  under the 'Event' tab the details of this season's events are displayed by division, or by date. When you click on a specific event, a print button has been added to allow you to print details of the selected event;
•  under the 'Tournaments' tab, all senior tournaments from SRC clubs along with GAO senior events and Canadian Senior Golf Association events are listed;
•  under the 'Clubs' tab a new sub tab has been created 'Club SRC info' that provides the travel time from your club to other SRC member clubs, the distance to be travelled to those clubs, the club's region and the last time your club played the selected club:
•  adjacent to the 'Clubs in Range' tab is the 'Players' tab that lists the captain and team members for each club:
•  adjacent to the 'Player's tab is the 'Yearly Results' tab that provides a list of each clubs divisional results for previous years.

We hope these changes are to the benefit of each SRC member.

If you have a recommendation to improve the SRC website, please contact your club captain who will pass the request along to the SRC Board.
