2020 Review:

As all are aware, the COVID-19 Pandemic caused the SRC Board, in consultation with Senior Ryder Cup Captains, to cancel the 2020 season.

Due to the limited number of outdoor activities available, I am sure most Clubs would confirm that 2020 was their busiest in recent memory in terms of rounds of play.

2021 Outlook

As I write this note, we are amid the Covid-19 Pandemic’s second wave, including recently announced stricter rules in Toronto, Peel, Ottawa and York Regions. Having said that, we believe planning for next season is prudent and are cautiously optimistic that by next June, courses will be open for play and, Provincial and Municipal Guidelines will allow for groups of up to 32 to be safely spaced for food service at location(s) within your Club House and/or Outdoor Patio(s)

I would like to thank our very committed and talented Directors (who also double, or have doubled, as SRC Team Captains) for their (virtual) support through 2020 and for their detailed plans to make 2021 our best-ever Season!

Each Director’s Responsibilities and key contact information are noted on our website (click ‘About Us” and click “SRC Board’).

2021 Expansion Plan:

The 2021 Season will have a record 168 Clubs participating in five Regions, each with approximately 32 Teams. Up to 32 additional teams will be considered for the 2022 season as we continue to add many new private and semi-private Clubs from Ottawa/Hull and Eastern Ontario, and, as we add within our other four well-established Regions. The growth for 2021 includes the entry of the SRC into Northern Ontario.

At the October Senior Ryder Cup Board meeting, the following seventeen Ontario Golf Clubs, and one Michigan Golf Club, received approval to participate in the 2021 Senior Ryder Cup competition.

  • Baxter Creek Golf Club - Fraserville;
  • Carlisle Golf Club - Carlisle;

Summary Comments:

Many thanks to our four Corporate Sponsors: Callaway Golf; Jackson-Triggs Wines; Visit Tucson; and Lexus of London who have indicated their ongoing support for the 2021 season. Their financial support subsidizes the cost of our Championship and provides support for our playoff events. For 2021, we will be seeking sponsorship support from businesses local to the playoff venues.

Please show your appreciation to our sponsors by considering conducting business with them, when you have the opportunity. Our sponsors’ distinctive logos, and links to their respective websites, are displayed on the Senior Ryder Cup website home page ( At the conclusion of this newsletter is a picture of Jim Aziz, SRC Director, as he and his wife accept delivery of her Lexus, from Chris Pinelli, General Manager of Lexus of London. The vehicle transaction, including their ‘trade in’ valuation, was ‘virtual’, and handled with ease, from their Mississauga home. Staff at Lexus of London were prompt in the handling of plate transfer, warranty registration, demo of vehicle features etc. Lexus of London have an extensive vehicle inventory any of which can be purchased or leased. For those in the GTA and the Niagara Peninsula, purchasing from Lexus of London means you are able to avoid the GTA premium on some auto prices. Any Lexus dealer can service your Lexus vehicle.

Good luck for a happy, healthy, and successful 2021! Stay safe!
