2019 End of Regular Season Update

Now that almost 1000 matches have been contested in the regular season, the playoffs commence on August 6th at Dundas Valley for the Niagara Region, August 12th at the Briers for the Central Region, August 13th at Tangle Creek for the Mid West Region and August 16th at Maple City for the South West Region. A check of the SRC website will reveal the sixty four (64) clubs that have qualified for the playoffs ( – Events – Division Standings). Some divisions had tightly contested scoring and several teams earned their way in during their final match – the second place team in six divisions emerged with 3 points, or less, from the third place team and there was one tie. Congratulations to the successful clubs and to the those clubs who did not make it we hope you had an enjoyable season and look forward to having you back in 2020.

Your SRC Board of Directors has a vacancy for the role of Secretary, for a 3-year term. If you have the background and skill set to make a meaningful contribution to the SRC through this role, please respond via email, or phone, to our President, Gene Gordon, by August 31st.   ( - 519-681-9119)

We thank sponsors who are supporting the playoff events - at each of the four playoff locations, Jackson Triggs have donated two cases of their premium wine to be awarded for two closest to the pin prizes. Bench Brewing will host a craft beer tasting at the Niagara Region playoff at Dundas Valley G. & C.C. The hosting includes a draw for two cases of Bench’s premium craft beer. Lexus of London are sponsoring a ‘hole in one for a car’ at the South West Region playoff at Maple City G.C.  Members are encouraged to support sponsors who are supporting the SRC.

Congratulations to Carl Glatt of the Carrying Place Golf Club SRC team who aced the 12th hole, at Carrying Place, during July 3rd matches. Carl swung a 3 hybrid on the 181 yard hole. While there was no ‘hole in one for the car’ prize the other 31 participants in the matches were delighted to celebrate Carl’s succcess with after round beverages.

SRC member, Lars Melander, continued his winning ways emerging victorious at the two day London Hunt Invitational.

The GAO Ontario Senior Men’s Championships are underway, this week, with many SRC members participating.

This season the SRC made its initial foray into Eastern Ontario with a new Division V – Perth Golf Club, Carleton Golf and Yacht Club, Smith Falls Golf and Country Club and Brockville Country Club. Members of the new Division posed for a picture at their inaugural matches.

Updates will follow each of the four playoffs as clubs vie for spots in the SRC Championship at Devil’s Pulpit on Thursday, September 5th.
