Senior Ryder Cup
2019 Mid-season Update
To date almost 400 matches of this year’s regular season have been contested and the
competition is intense. There are many tight races for the top two spots in each division. The top
two teams qualify for the August playoffs leading to the Championship at Devil’s Pulpit on
September 5th. To view the current division standings please visit the SRC website at
‘www.seniorrydercup.com’. Click on ‘Events’ and click on ‘Division Standings’.
Congratulations to the team from London’s Sunningdale Golf and Country Club who are this
year’s first playoff qualifier. They will be playing at Chatham’s Maple City Country Club on
Friday, August 16th.
The SRC Board is pleased to announce that our returning sponsor, Lexus of London, will be
providing a ‘hole in one for a car’ at the Maple City Country Club playoff event and providing
support to the SRC Championship at Devil’s Pulpit. A big SRC thanks to Lexus of London
General Manager, Chris Pinelli, and his team, for their ongoing support of the Senior Ryder Cup.
Again, this year, Jackson Triggs Wines will be awarding a case of wine for the closest to the pin
competitions at each playoff event and at the SRC Championship. Thanks to the Jackson Triggs
team for their ongoing support of the Senior Ryder Cup.
The 2018 SRC Championship at Saugeen Golf Club featured, for the first time, a practice round
a day prior to the Championship. The reaction to the practice round was excellent and, as a
result, the SRC Board have negotiated the availability of a practice round at Devil’s Pulpit on
Wednesday, September 4th, that will include the practice round (with carts), a luncheon and a
reception following the practice round. Cost will be $125, all in. Details will be provided to SRC
teams that qualify for the Championship.
Congratulations to Chris Parris, Captain of the Borden Golf Club SRC team, who has joined the
Senior Ryder Cup Board of Directors. Chris will be a member of the Website Management
Committee and the Rules & Games Committee.
Senior Ryder Cup members continue to emerge victorious on the Ontario Senior Men’s golf
circuit winning events at the Cherry Hill Men’s Invitational (Mark Brewer – Whitevale), The
National Amateur – Senior Men (Lars Melander – Oakville Golf Club) and the GAO Senior
Champions of Champions (Lars Melander – Oakville Golf Club). Many SRC members have
finished in the top ten of these, and other senior events. Congratulations to all.
July will see almost 600 matches being conducted. We wish all members much success on the
