 President’s 2022 Spring Update

On behalf of the Senior Ryder Cup Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to our twenty-third season of competitive senior golf. We have expanded our geographic area to the east to include the province of Quebec as well as adding an increasing number of clubs in the eastern and north-central parts of Ontario. Covid travel restrictions have put on hold the Michigan member clubs with expectations of a  return in 2023.

We have added 20 new clubs to our roster and increased the number of Divisions from 36 to 39. With 157 clubs, 162 teams and close to 2000 golfers it has been necessary for us, in a number of cases, to create five-team Divisions.  Our short-term goal is to expand to 200 teams in the near future. The Senior Ryder Cup remains the largest men’s team golf competition in Canada.

As in past years, the top two teams from each division will advance to one of the five Regional Playoffs. The top three teams in each Regional Playoff will move on to compete at the Championships at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill. The schedule for the Regional Playoffs and Championship is shown below:

Georgian Region – Tuesday, August 16 at Tangle Creek Golf Club;

Eastern Region – Friday, August 19 at Brockville Golf and Country Club;

Niagara Region – Monday, August 22 at Bridgewater Golf Club;

Central Region – Monday, August 29 at Whitevale Golf Club;

Lexus of London Southwest Region – Wednesday, August 31 at Westhaven Golf & Country Club;

SRC Championship – Sunday - Monday, September 18-19 at Lookout Point Country Club.

We thank Whistle Bear Golf Club, host of the 2021 Senior Ryder Cup Championships last fall, on their excellent facilities and extend our congratulations to Scarborough Golf and Country Club for winning the 2021 Senior Ryder Cup Championship.

We encourage you to use the Events section of our website ( to find your club’s schedule, team results, individual results and standings in your Division. You are also able to find other non Senior Ryder Cup events under the Tournaments heading on the website. Here you will find senior tournaments hosted by Senior Ryder Cup member clubs.

2022 Senior Ryder Cup Championships:

Our championship will be held on Sunday and Monday September 18th and 19th and for the first time it will involve two days of team match play competition. The event will take place at the challenging Walter Travis designed Lookout Point Country Club, ( This year Lookout Point is celebrating its 100th Anniversary.

The SRC has confirmed that, at this time, its championship and playoff dates do not conflict with tournament dates for sanctioned GAO and Golf Canada events. Hopefully there will be no change to such dates having regard for the possibility of rising Covid-19 issues.

We look forward to a successful season culminating in the playoffs and championship. Please remember that alternate team members are allowed to play in both the playoffs and the championship.

In Memoriam – Gary L. Bartlett

We have lost a great friend, accomplished golfer and long-time supporter of the Senior Ryder Cup in the passing on June 15th of Gary Bartlett. Gary was a member at Dundas Valley for 50+ years, a Club Champion on numerous occasions, a multi-time champion at countless tournaments and a past club professional who competed in many international events.

Gary was a prominent member of the Senior Ryder Cup Board for 10 years including a three-year term as SRC President from 2014-16. In the years following Gary continued to provide his wise counsel to the Senior Ryder Cup Board. He will truly be missed.
